Lemon also known as “Citrus Limon” has cleansing, purifying, and invigorating properties, which makes Lemon one of the most versatile oils. Everybody loves Lemon essential oil there is something refreshing about iced water and one drop of lemon oil when you first wake in the morning, you feel the benefits almost instantly. We add it to our cheesecakes and of course Lemon historically has been known to be a cleanser of the body. Lemon Essential Oil is extracted using the cold pressed method it takes 45 lemons to make a bottle of doTERRA essential oil.

Properties of Lemon

The properties of Lemon Essential Oil are:-

  • Antidepressant 
  • Antiseptic
  • Anti fungal
  • Antioxidant
  • Antiviral
  • Astringent 

Application Methods

Lemon can be applied neat (with no dilution) when used topically. Apply directly on area of concern or to reflex points. Avoid direct sunlight or UV light for up to 12 hour after using on the skin.

Add 5 drops to a diffuser for a refreshing uplifting aroma.

Drop one drop of oil into the palm of the hands, rub together and inhale the amazing aroma of fresh lemons.

Place 1-2 drops under the tongue, or add one drop into a glass, fill with cold water and ice and drink as a ‘wake me up’.  You can also take lemon oil in a capsule or use as a flavouring in food.

  • Put a few drops of Lemon on a rag to help remove stubborn, sticky residue off surfaces.

  • Wash hands with Lemon essential oil to remove grease after changing the oil in the car.

  • It promotes healthy functioning of the GI tract.*

  • Use Lemon essential oil in an oral rinse to soothe the mouth and throat.

  • Add Lemon to enhance the flavor of desserts and main dishes.

Directions for Use and Cautions

Lemon is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for human consumption by the DFA. Dilute one drop oil in 1 tsp. honey or in 4 oz. of a beverage. It may not be suitable for children under 6 years old; use with caution and in greater dilution for children 6 years old and over.

There are some cautions to consider, if you have sensitivity skin it would be recommended to dilutewith dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil. To keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid contact with your eyes, inner ears and sensitive areas.
